Crossing the language barrier, one word at a time
Most language apps hand everyone the same fixed course. AI Language Coach does the opposite: it builds a vocabulary program around you — your starting level, the topic you actually care about, and the way you learn fastest.
Tell it which language you want to learn and roughly where you're starting. A short placement quiz calibrates your level (CEFR A1–C2), and the AI assembles a personal dictionary that blends foundational, high-frequency words with topic-specific vocabulary for the subject you chose — travel, business, cooking, gaming, medicine, whatever you like.
How it works
- Choose your languages and level. Learn Spanish from English, English from Ukrainian, Japanese from English — any direction across a curated, high-quality set of languages.
- Take a 3–5 question placement quiz. The coach confirms your real level instead of taking your word for it.
- Get your dictionary. Each word arrives with its translation, an example sentence, a plain-language definition, grammatical variations, synonyms, and a little etymology — and you can hear it pronounced.
- Learn first, then practice. Start with Learn mode — a guided walkthrough that teaches each word before any test: its meaning, an example sentence in your own language, the very same sentence in the language you're learning (with audio), related words, and grammar notes. Then build a session from nine practice formats — flashcards, multiple-choice, listening (hear it, pick the meaning), typed recall, sentence cloze (fill the word into its example sentence), unscramble, matching, a flip-card memory game, and Story mode (an AI-written short story that uses your own words). One tap on "Learn & Quiz" sets it up for you, or chain formats yourself — the coach notices which you succeed with most and suggests it, but never forces it.
- Read with the right amount of help. In Story mode, tap any word to hear it (at the speed you choose) and reveal its pronunciation, or switch on an interlinear pronunciation line and per-sentence translations to read straight through. Then take the graded story quiz — fill the vocabulary back into the English translation from context, and it counts toward your mastery.
- Memorize through repetition, not cramming. Words you get right resurface on a spaced schedule that widens as they stick, climbing toward "mastered." Words you miss come back sooner. Nothing is "done" after a single correct answer — it's reinforced until it's second nature. When you've mastered most of your current level, the coach suggests stepping up to the next one.
- See exactly where you stand. A progress dashboard breaks your mastery down by fluency tier (A1–C2) — showing how close each tier is to "mastered" — alongside your strengths and weaknesses by study format and word type, and the specific words to focus on next.
What this demonstrates
This is a window into two things AI does exceptionally well. The first is quietly dismantling the language barrier — translating, explaining nuance, and giving you the why behind a word, not just its dictionary gloss. The second is personalized education at scale: a patient tutor that meets you at your level, builds material on demand, remembers what you've learned, and adapts its method to you — the kind of one-on-one coaching that used to require a human tutor and a lot of money.
The same engine that helps a traveler learn 40 useful phrases before a trip can help a student drill exam vocabulary, or help a new hire pick up the terminology of an unfamiliar field. It's a small, concrete example of AI turning passive content into an active, adaptive learning partner.
